Swedish Interwar Cavalry Officer

Here comes some pictures of the painted interwar Mounted Swedish Officer I converted the other day.

As I did my military service in the Cavalry at the Mounted Lifeguards/K1 I painted him up in the older uniform model/ä that still are in use by the Mounted Lifguards during parades and the Change of the guards at Stockholm Palace.

The "Blue Prince" Prince Carl in Uniform Model/ä Painted by Anders Zorn 1898

Mounted Lifguards at Stockholm Palace in the full Parade Uniform of the Model/ä added "tassels";)

  5. Nice! In particullar I like how you managed to get the rider's pose to look natural on the horse and in tune with its movement.

What uniform would the Lifeguard have worn for active service in the 1930s and would they have worn a variety of uniforms like the infantry did?
    cheers

    1. Good question Alan.

Indeed they would, I have seen several pictures from 1928/29 and they have a mix of uniforms as the infantry, using all different head gears that Björn have on his Ådalen minis, but it seems like the soldiers in at least each squad have the same...but not the officers that can have another one;)

In all pictures they seem to have riding boots, even the ones unsing Bicycles:)

      best regards Michael

  13. Any chance of posting some piccies Michael?
Do tell us more re the bicycles- did the Lifeguard have a bicycle section or was this just to ride around barracks? Finally when was sword drill abolished as a training for war- would they have been prepared to charge with drawn swords in the 1920s and 30s.
    Cheers
    Alan
