Håtunaleken, Lion Rampant, AAR #3

Here comes some pictures from the 3rd game in our club project "Håtunaleken", Håtuna-games a Swedish Games of Throne:)

As you might remember from our last game King Birgers Bride, Kristina the Daughet of the Marsk Torgils Knutsson, was obducted by the Kings younger brother Valdemar.

But it seems like the Bride robbery was conjunctional as the chield hod friends Kristina and Valdemar was in love and had decided to get married without permission...

King Birger got furious as he heard about his brothers betrayal and sent Knight Gudmar Magnusson from the House of Ulvåsa and Knight Jöns Bengtsson from the House of Oxenstierna to crash the wedding...

We used the Scenario L: Bloodfued, but Valdemar would be caprured not killed.

Wedding crashers was:

Gudmar Magnusson from the House of Ulvåsa (Bottom right)
3 Foot yeomen with Mixed weapons @ 5 points each

Jöns Bengtsson from the House of Oxenstierna (Bottom left)
1 Mounted Men-at-Arms @ 6 points
1 Foot Men-at-Arms @ 6 points
1 Foot Serjants @ 4 points

Wedding guests was:

Valdemar Magnusson from the House of Bjälbo (Top left)
1 Mounted Men-at-Arms @ 6 points
1 Foot Serjants @ 4 points
1 Crossbowmen @ 4 points

Anders Stigsen from the House of Hvide (Top right)
1 Mounted Men-at-Arms @ 6 points
1 Mounted Crossbow @ 4 points
1 Foot Serjants @ 4 points
1 Bidowers@ 2 points

Wedding quests ruches to their horses to engage the crashers...

and off they go...

Hvide sent his mounted crossbows on a flanking move...

The Oxenstierna retinue passes a oxwaggon...

General advance for all participants, even the hotblooded Valdemar that shouldent be harmed...

As usual Ulvåsa sent his allmoge through a field...but they still made some advancement...

The Hvide Foot Serjants was quick to deploy a shield wall, almost blocking the way for all the advancing Knights...

The Allmoge had reached the fence and got good cover to start shooting from on the advancing enemys...

Oxenstierna Knights have spotted the Bjälbo Foot Serjants...

Shootout...

Enemy approaching...

First close combat was between the Oxenstierna and Bjällbo foot Serjants...

The Knights let the common warriors fight it out befor they will join in...

As the Oxenstierna Foot Serjants retreat the Oxenstierna Knights charge in, slaying the poor Bjälbo Foot Serjants, but at a cost for the Knights...

Weakend by the combat with the Foot Serjants it was now the Oxenstierna Knights time to get a beating as Valdemar and his Bjölbo Knights charged in...

As usual Valdemar are a victorious man... no one even dared to engage him in single combat... the man start to get a rep.

As the Oxenstierna mounted men-at-arms was slain their foot counterpart tried to deal with Valdemar and his bodyguard...

But things got worse for the Oxenstierna foot men-at-arms as also the Hvide mounted men-at-arms charged home...

Most of the wedding chrachers elite troops was out of bussiness, just leaving the heroic allmoge to settle the score...

The Hvide mounted men-at-arms also finnish of the last of the Oxenstierna Hoast

With just the allmoge left the wedding crashers had to retreat and get ready for the evenings wedding party instead...

Exellent game once again:) As w just were 4 players it was some what faster when the last one, but indeed as fun. More to come from the Håtuna games project.

Belor the Glory collected so far, and now we have 12 participants eventhought all havent had their first game yet.

Also pleasetake a look at Jonas pictures and AAR from the same game, might be another angle as he commanded the House of Hvide...

Fot the year to come...or have started I suppose...2015... It is really nice to look forward and make new plans, that is all what wargaming and miniature painting are...new greate projects ;)

Kalmar Union War
Of course will I continure my main epic project about the 15th century Swedish civil war in the shadow of the Kalmar Union. Got a bunch om minis already painted, allmoge... but my lead and plastic pile for this project still have some minis in it, and there will probably be more sins the Perrys have more minis on their way...light cavalry, any one?

Håtunaleken
By the end of last year I and some mateys started up a Lion Rampant Club Campaign revolving around the "Håtunaleken" (Håtuna-Games) a Swedish Game of Thrones, set in the early decade of the 14th century. I like the setting very much and I hope the campaign will run at least during the spring.

Greate Northern War
A new project that my matey Sören are lure us in to... its a spin off effect of last years Scanian War project... So now some of the club members have started to paint Swedes and Russians for 1708. I of course have to contribute with at least dalregementet... but if I get the inspiration I also will paint one or two russian regiments... 28mm ofcourse...

Playtesting
I have been asked to help out with the playtesting of Dan Mersey´s (Dux Bellorum, Lion Rampant) new rules, wich I ofcourse gladly accepted as I and Dan had a really greate co-operation during the Lion Rampant process. Now I just looking for the Swedish angle of his new rules so I can get in to painting some dedicated minis for it. I don´t think it is any official note of what era the rules are, so I will not mention yet. As well there are no release date, but it took 2 years for Lion Rampant...

Some more unofficial stuff are in the pipeline, but I have to wait for some days, weeks or month before I can blog about it... ;)

Star Wars - Imperial Assault

My friend Oscar haven´t only got a new Death Star lamp from IKEA, but also Fantasy Flight Games latest release, Star Wars - Imperial Assault board game, of course he tries to lure me in to something new byt leting me win my first test game...

I got to play the Light side, getting Luke Skywalker with friends to capture a ship in the Mos eisley space harbour.

But Darth Vader and some goons was there to try to stop them...

It was a really nice game, very smoth rule mechanisme, that I got in to very quick, even my first game.

Darth Vader was a real killer, but with some well placed blaster shoots even hi was put down and I managed to win my first scenario :)

All minis we used was ofcourse painte to an excellent standard by my matey Oscar. If you get the box they will be unpainted as below, but you get very much stuff in the box...

Håtunaleken, Lion Rampant, AAR #2

Before christmas me and my club mates had the second session of our Lion Rampant Club campaign "Håtunaleken" (Håtuna-Games) a Swedish Games of Thrones set in the early years of the 14th century.

Last time the Kings Brothers backstabed the King at the election of the King at Mora Stenar (Mora Stones) you can see that AAR here.

It is still 1301 in the middle of the Summer and the King have invited to his wedding with Kristina the Daughet of his Marsk Torgils Knutsson. As tradition was the bride should ride to the weding escorted by her relatives. But it is a long way to ride and much dangers along the road...

Escorting the Marsk daugther did:

House of Tre Rosor (Top right)
1x6 Foot Men-at-Arms* @6pts
1x12 Foot Serjants with Mixed Weapons @6pts

House of Ulvåsa (Bottom right)
1x6 Mounted Men-at-Arms* @6pts
1x12 Foot Serjants @4pts (Escorting the Marsk daughter Kristina)
1x6 Bidowers @2pts

For the Bride Robbers, the Kings two younger brothers, fought the:

House of Bjälbo - Valdemar Magnusson (Top left, deployed in two possitions)
1x6 Mounted Men-at-Arms* @6pts
1x6 Foot Serjants with Mixed Weapons @6pts

House of Algotssönerna (Bottom left) a House known to be Bride Robbers...
1x6 Foot Men-at-Arms* @6pts
1x12 Foot Serjants with Mixed Weapons @6pts

We used Senarion H the Messenger from the Lion Rampant rulebook, but the Bride/Messenger would not be killed but Captured and Abducted. The Bride should be escorted safely across the board, the Bride robbers was allowed to deploy a small flanking force.

Gallant knights in the front of the Bride procession... Might not be the best to escort but fancy a good fight along the road:)

The main part of the Bride Robbers...

AMBUSH !!!  Valdemar had put some Foot Serjants to attack the Bride procession...

The newly back from a Baltic Crusade the Hero Matts Ketillmundsson from the House of Tre Rosor was eager to get in combat with the bride Robbers, teaching them a lesson advancing swift with his Foot Men-at-Arms...

Gudmar and the Gallant Knights was not worried and rested awhile before the combat...

Resting a while more, letting the Foot Serjants escorting the Bride advance ahead of them...

The Tre Rosor Foot Serjants was sent to cover the right flank of the Bride procession...

And the Ulvåsa bidowers was sent to cover the left flank...

Staying at the farm for some food...

Staying to eat for a long time...

While the main part of the Bride procession slowely advanced the Crusader Hero Matts Kettilmundsson from the House of Tre Rosor made a all out assault with his Foot Men-at-Arms...

...They was all smashed by Valdemars Mounte Men-at-Arms...

In the face of the enemy the Foot Serjants escorting the Bride decided to take the rout throught the fields...

While the escorting Knights advanced along the road to engage the Bride Robbers, the Foot Serjants and the Bride started to move through the field...

Clash of the Knights...

Gudmar Magnusson, House of Ulvåsa managed to puchback the Kings rebell brother Valdemar and his Knighs...

Valdemar the sneaky git then chalanged Gudmar on single combat... Valdemar was known to be a big, strong and skilled fighter...

...so this time to, poor Gudmar was thrown out of his saddle and down to the ground...

With their Lord on the ground the escorting Foot Serjants lost their hart completely and abandon the bride in the field leaving for home...

The Bride was just to collect for the Bride Robbers... The Bride Kristina looked with a glimpse of admiration on the gallant Valdemar as he rode forward to here...

Once again a very nice game of Lion Rampant, we just concluded that the escort mission was quite hard to achieve.

We also introduced Leader Skills, each participant made a random roll on the Leader Skill chart in the rule book for their Leaders skill. If any one rolled 12 he was allowed to choose any of the sills in the list, as we think the 12 skill are to good for campaign games.

The Håtunaleken campaign continues...
