Back to Scanian war 1676

Somehow I just got an urge to re-start some skirmish gaming during the Scanian War 1676, Swedes vs. Snapphanar (i.e. irregular Danish troops)...

So I built me some more of the Wargames Factory minis, that I of course will paint as the Darlecalian regiment. A soon as I painted them I plan to get on with some 24 Snapphanar using warlord TYW/ECW dragoons that I have had in the leadpile for some time.

  2. One should (almost) always obey ones urges - and the Scanian War is one to embrace. Happy painting!

  3. I didn't see that one coming but it is a really nice surprise. Nice to see that clever 1-2-3 basingsystem here aswell. /Mattias

    1. Good that I still can bring some surprises ;)

The basing speeds up the move of the units and still give a skirmish feel and its possible to remove losses.

  4. Nice to see this project resurrected, Michael! And nice to see that multi-basing system you've developed getting used again. I'm thinking about using it for one of my upcoming projects. What sizes are those bases if I may ask?

  5. Recently got myself a copy of the Pike & Shotte rules and I'm quite impressed, especially at the facility to add your own adaptions to emphasise a particular nation or campaign.

  6. Nice to see this project start up again. 'The Devil's Playground' supplement I picked up at Salute looks rather good and although specifically about the 30 Years War, has some nice ides that can be used for the ECW etc.

  7. Hej! Får man fråga om du använder Wargames Factorys figurer för spanska tronföljdskriget som de är? Stämmer deras uniformer såpass? Tack förresten för de finfina reglerna Pikeman's Lament.

    1. Hej Marcus

I answer in English as I dont want to exclude any of my readers, hope that is ok.

Glad that you like The Pikeman´s lament rules:) Very appreciated !

The question was if the Wargames Facotory (Now sold by Warlord) minis are "out of the box" historicaly accurate for Swedish Infantry in the Sacanian War, or if I have converted them.

For me they are "Good enough" considering the cost, if you ask the uniform expert they probably would say no as details are wrong like the coat pockets etc. but that is really only someting one obcess about when starting up the project, when the minis are on the gaming table they work very fine and look like Swedish (and Danish) troops from the time.

I have done some small work on the minis, first of all I have cut of a bit of their necks so they wouldn´t look like ostrich. and I dont paint they eyes on the minis as the eyes are sculpt as Marty Feldman eyes.

The heades with carpus hats I made from different grenadier heads i cut down. There are just 4 different floppy hats in the infantry box and non flopy hat in the Cavalry and the Tricorn hats was not in use.

Ha en riktigt bra söndag !

      MVH Michael
