As you might remember I got me a box of the new Perry Foot Knights, so I just had to build me a few of them, turned out to be 24...so here are some pictures of the first 12 of them under the command of the House of Natt och Dag.
OK, which noble house will the next bunch be? Sture, Vasa, Bonde...? Given the size of the Swedish Frälse at the time would it not be too hard to model it in its entirety... ; P
A thing I have wondered, how common was "painted" helmets? (You tend to have a few helmets now and then in the livery colour(s) and I have seen it on a few pictures of old helmets.) Is it, as I asume a combination of showing who you are and rust-treatmet?
Lovely work Michael - all this Lion Rampant fever has also increased my interest in the great medieval minis coming out from Perrys at the moment. Might be a 100 Years Wars for me at some point.
Don´t know about how common was "painted" helmets was, I do it as I think it give some Colour to the unit as well as the colour on some shoulder pads. I would think that qioet some of the armour was painted to keep the rust away...
You win the internet with these guys. They look great.
ReplyDeleteSplendid work Michael!
ReplyDeleteVery nice - showcases what the box is like, too - super :)
ReplyDeleteThose are very nice indeed. I have some Perry Sudan War miniatures and as you would expect, they are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI do like these Michael, very tempted to get some for no other reason than they look like great fun to build and paint.

Your light blue/straw color combo is great!
ReplyDeleteWonderful combo, Michael! How clever to repeat the colors in the banner throughout the retinue.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! One day you'll have the whole array of northern noble houses on display.
