Russian Infantry at Stäket 1719

Some pictures of the first batch of Russian Infantry for our Salute 2018 gaem "Battle at Stäket 1719". These will be fielded as 3 units of Shots 12 minis each (each 12 man group will represent a Company during our battle) and a "Command group" of 6 minis that will be fielded as a Aggressive Forlorn Hope and contain the Officer, the banners are from the 1712 Company Colours for the Sibirsky Infantry Regiment and Vyborgsky Infantry Regiment.

The minis are Wargames Factory from their War of Spanish Succession range. The traditional cap "Carpus" that both some Russians and Swedes regiments used during the GNW i made out of cut down grenadiecaps.

Swedish Redoupt for the Battle at Stäket 1719

The Map abow was drawn by  the Swedish Fortification Officer Baltazar von Dalheim and show his defence plan for the Stäket passage forward Stockholm, this was the location of the "Battle at Stäket 1719" that will be our game for Salute 2018.  Up in this map are to the East

Latest update in our preperation for the game are that I, jesper and Andy are in the progress of painting some 40 russians each, more to come...  and Jan working on the terrain and ships, below some pictures of a Swedish redoubt that Jan buils and will incorporate in the terrain board.

Russian Grenadiers, Stäket 1719 - Salute 2018

Here comes some pictures of the first minis I painted for our Salute 2018 game, Battle at Stäket 1719. The minis are Russian grenadiers, each group of 12 minis will represent a company in the battle, it is told that one of the Russian Grenadier Companies spent 540! iron hand grenades during the battle.. Minis from the Wargames Factory WSS infantry box.

Gaslands

I have got me a copy of the new Osprey wargames release - Gaslands. have played an early playtest version and looking very much forward to test the final rules. Got so inspired that I just had to build me some new vehicles from diecast cars and warhammer bits, just painting left...

#3 - King Gustav I of Sweden 1523 - WIP

One more update on th 28mm mini of the Swedish King Gustav I Eriksson from the House of Vasa that my matey Sören, that runs the Eagle of Empire miniatures, has decided to let
eBob miniatures make. Below some pictures of the stunning minis, might be some details left.

The mini are based on a painting from a 1909 painting by the famous Swedish painter Carl Larsson, the painting are made in true nationalistic style.

The Carl Larsson painting are 7 meter by 14 meter and have been displayed at the "Nationalmuseum"Swedish art and design Museum, but the museum has been closed for Renovation for some years and will be re-opened in the autum of 2018.

The painting are depicting when King Gustav Vasa enters the Swedish capital Stockholm after he have won the Swedeish war of Liberationin 1523. But the arms and armour that painter Carl larson have depicted the King in was an armour made by Kunz Lochner in Nürnberg in 1540.

You might have noticed the helmet the King has in his hand, that to are assumed to have been made by Kunz Lochner in Nürnberg in 1540, as well as at least one more helmet that was delivered at the same time, there was also one or two one and a half handed Swords (132cm long) delivered to the King, and it was most probably never used in combat. The armour and helmets are keept at the Swedish Armoury at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

A a few WIP picture update from our Salute 2018 project.

Jan are working on casting some Galleys and I have a bunch of Russian Grenadiers on the run and I know Jesper are in the progress of painting some really nice Swedes from Ebor miniatures.

#2 - King Gustav I of Sweden 1523 - WIP

Here comes short update on th 28mm mini that looks like the Swedish King Gustav I Eriksson from the House of Vasa that my matey Sören, that runs the Eagle of Empire miniatures, has decided to let
eBob miniatures make. Here a picture of the latest progress.

As you might notice the King have a special haircut that we nowardays call "Gustav Vasa Frisyr" (Gustav Vasa Haircut) here in Sweden.

It might have been popular back in the 16th century, but not as much nowardays even as some people call i the "Dalmas haircut" (Dalecarlian Haircut). I can garantee that I, even as I´m from the dalecarlia region, never have had a Dalicarlian Haircut.

King Gustav I of Sweden 1523 - WIP

Just had to share these pictures I got from my matey Sören that runs the Eagle of Empire miniatures. Sören has decided that he wanted a 28mm mini that looks like the Swedish King Gustav I Eriksson from the House of Vasa as he enters Stockholm on Midsummerday 1523 as the winner of the Swedish War of Liberation, kicking out the Danes and sealing the end of the Kalmar Union.

eBob miniatures are making the sculpt and the picture he is basing the mini on are from a 1909 painting by the famous Swedish painter Carl Larsson, the painting are made in true nationalistic style.

I hope to be able to share more pictures as the project goes on.

Swedish Grenadier Great Northern War

I finaly got around to paint the 40mm Swedish Grenadier mini that I got from my Finnish friends that was for a visit to the club last year.

The mini I thing they got from the museum shop at the Sveaborg Fortress outside Helsinki in Finland, I have visited Helsinki several times but I actually never have been to the Fortress... to on my to do list...
