I just had to paint some of the lovely Claymore Casting minis,as I needed 2 more command stands to some Allmoge units I took the opportunety to mix in 2 Claymore Casting minis on each base... Here are some pictures of the first one...
This represent Bengt Gunnarsson of the House of Gylta.
He was never dubbed to a Knight and remained a Squire all he´s life. Bengt are listed among the Swedish Privy Council in 1446 and was married with Martha Andersdotter of the House of Öra. With whom he had the son Peder Bengtsson.
Bengt turned allegiance in 1452 and got in Danish service. He was sentenced in contumaciam to death for treason by the Swedish King Karl Knutsson of House of Bonde in 1453, but Bengt was then in Denmark. He returned in 1458 after King Christian I's accession to the throne, but regained not his office.
As Bengt Gunnarsson of the House of Gylta was a traitor he will most often be seen in command of a Allmoge unit in Danish service...
Great info and great looking figures!!

ReplyDeleteTheir perfect for longbearded swedes.
Really nice work and fantastic little historical narrative.
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
ReplyDeleteBTW, what is "contumaciam". It sounds fittingly nasty but is it the same as 'hung, drawn and quatered'?
Darrell.
Very nice command group, and the flag is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAllmoge in Danish service? It is getting complex but this chap is a very interesting character for the period.
Best regards.
very good work on painting and base!
ReplyDeletenice figures too....
Thank you very much !
ReplyDeletein contumaciam: one who has refused to submit to or appear in a court and who is thereupon convicted or condemned in his absence :)
The wars in Sweden was realy a civil war between different Swedish Noble houses all in need of the Swedish Allmoge in support of their cause.
Some of these Noblemen also gain the support or supported the Dansih King if they had some thing to gain of it...

"in contumaciam: one who has refused to submit to or appear in a court and who is thereupon convicted or condemned in his absence"
ReplyDeleteAh right, so not as bad a s getting hung, drawn and quatered but still not a desireable state of affairs :O))
Darrell.
The yellow and blue checkered pattern is awesome. and it all comes together with those colors appearing in the flag. You have such an eye for color.
ReplyDeleteNice background and figures.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks Mates !
ReplyDelete@Darrell, I suppouse he was !in contumaciam" as he didn´t want to be hung, drawn and quatered and he probably knew it was comming as the Danes didn´t win any decisive victory;)
Best regards Dalauppror
