To day we have a company of Snappharnar for my Scanian War 1675-79 skirmish project. Just two pictures but you get the feel och the mixed units there I use both mounted and dismounted minis in the same unit.
Snapphanar was most often in regular service as Dragoons for the Danes to harrass the Swedish and ambush their supply lines. But the Snapphanr could also just be bunches of rought necks that made use of the chaos the war provided to plunder and kill amongst the civilian population.
Here I have mustered them as 4 groups of Dragoons with a Officer and drummer. I built them from one Box of warlord's TYW/ECW dragoons that Included 12 mounted and 12 dismounted minis, i just added a bilister with a horseholder and 4 horses. If you are sharp eyed and have a good memory you Will notice that i have re-based some of them... Losing the pill-Base for round 40mm and Also put 3 minis on round 60mm bases, so now a basic unit are 6 minis divided on the bases 3+2+1=6 minis ;)
Excellent stuff:)

ReplyDeleteLovely work!
ReplyDeleteGreat work!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely bunch of snapphanar - the irregularity of poses and basing really capture the guerrilla style of warfare they used.
ReplyDeleteThey look great! They capture the irregular style of the snapphanar beautifully. /Mattias
