Flying Orks and Gobos




I found a box of 40K Ork Stormboyz to a discounte price at the local game shop so I got it to add some Flying Orcs to my son Davids Ork force.

In the box there was only 5 minis and I wanted 6 as we use the "Rampant" system for our Sci-fi games. Fortunate there was 2 gobos in the box that made it possible for me to build a gobo rocket plane.

Marine commander



I painted this old Dark Angel mini for my son David as a Commander for his Marines a while back, but he didn´t thought he looked as a leader, so I decided to pimp him up a bit with a banner and some pets. I´m not sure where the dogs are from, as I have had them in my lead mountain for some time.

Ork Gretchins



I found this box of Gretchins at my local game store and feelt a need to get them for my son Davids Ork army.


The box contains 10 multi-part plastic Gretchin and one multi-part plastic Ork Runtherd, there is 12 Gretchin head variants and two Runtherd head variants as well as some arm/weapon options so it allowing you to build a differently posed hoard of Gretchin. Might have to get me one box more...

Sci-Fi Interlude



Been some Interludes from my usual Historical focus lately...This time I and my 8-year son David have built and painted a bunch of Space Orks as enemies to his Marines. We managed to get about 30 of them, took us about a month to paint them as I wanted david to do the main part of the work, so we painted when he had the inspiration.

As they was finished last week we had to set up a game at the club and once again we used the Dragon Rampant rules.

OOB Orks
1 Ork Boss with entourage @ 8pts (Fielded as Elite Foot with Missiles and Leader)
3 Squads of Ork warriors @ 4pts each (Fielded as Bellicose Foot)

OOB Marines
1 HQ squad of Marines @ 6pts each (Fielded as Heavy Foot with Missiles and Leader)
1 Squad of Marines @ 6pts each (Fielded as Heavy Foot with Missiles)
1 Squads of Terminators @ 8pts (Fielded as Elite Foot with Missiles) they made a Deep Strike entery in turn 2.

3 Objectives that both sides wanted to controll.



I played the Orks and David the Marines. As I was in Ork mode I ordered all my Ork warrior squads to swiftly advance for an objective each. David took a more laied back approch with his Marines, I reccon he was waiting for the Terminators to make a dasching enterance and win the day...



The Terminators Deep Striked very close to the center objective that one of my Orc warrior squads had just before reached, blazing guns from both sides...




At the same time the marines had captured the Objective closest to them and one of my Ork warrior squads had captured the objective closest to the Ork deplyment area...




With one objective each it all came down to the center objective that at the moment was contested, so I advanced with my Ork Boss to support the Ork warriors in the center. David deployed his Marine in the building by the objective he had captured trying to provide long range fire support for his Terminators....




The Terminators got hold up by the terrain so I thought I would send in a Squad of Ork warriors to finnish them of, especially as I had got some lucky hit with my Ork Boss shooting...


But my Ork warriors was soon on the retreat from the evil Terminators... 


BUT the attack hadent been in vain as my brade Ork warriors had managed to take down one of the terminators and they to had to retreat making them not close enought to the center objective to contest it and sins i had moved my Ork Boss closer it was in possesion of the Mighty Ork clan !!!


Was indeed a nice game and david thought it was fun even if he lost, i didn´t teas him to much as the good father I am ;)

More games to be expected, we have started to fix up some old Gorkamorka vehicles for the orks and also some Armoured transports for the Marines...

Transformers Rampant



During the weekend my son David started to build a city and play with his toy Transformers that he got from MacDonalds I think, after a while he asked for to play a game with them and who was I to say no:)

As he is familiar with the Dan Merseys Rampant system we used Dragon rampant as a bas for our Transformers Rampant to fight out a battle between the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons.

All Transformers was single miniature units and to not have to keep track of how many Strength Points they had lost we decided thayt all of them had just 1 but introduced "Recovery" , so in the turn after a Transformer had been taken out he rolled an activation for "Recover" and if succeeded the Transformer was up again and could activate as usual. We also removed the Courage value as we didn´t feel they would flee, but fight untill destroyed.


We used 3 stats lines for the different Transformers, both Autobots and Decepticons used the same. I dont know to much about Transformers so any experts might have to have indulgence with my rules;)

Decepticons moving in to town, the Prime to the left, the two green ones are Tertium and the last two are Secundus Transformers.

Our little town center, the three Autobots, Optimus Prime, Green Prime and the Secundus Bumblebee, are hiding on the other side of town

The Decepticons are moving in to town...

Optimus Prime jump up on a skyscraper roof and open fire at the approcing decepticans...

One of the Desepticaons Secundus go down...

Green prime joins Optimus Prine om the roof top, the building start to scatter due to their weight...

Bumblebee also want to join in for the fight and advance in the center of the town...

Decepticaons Prime are flying ower the town searcing for his prey...

...landing on the roof top opposit to Bumblebee...

...Bumble bee charge the Decepticon Prime thinking he can outfight him...

The town are in chaos as the Transformers create hawock, building start to tumble down on people, cars and transformers...

The duilding Bumblebee and the Decepticon prime are fighting on starts to fall donw due to the heavy fighting, they both manage to rais up again from the crached building...

Bumblebee find him self in a problematic situation when one of the frenzied Deceptican Tertium attack him...

The frenzied Deceptican Tertium put up a hard fight and Bumblebeee notise that the frenzied Deceptican Prime will join the fight...

...with some swift blows Bumblebee slay the Deceptican Tertium in time to engage the Deceptican Prime...

BOOOM... both Bumblebee and Deceptican prime was thrown to the ground... none of them continue to move...

With the Deceptican Prime out of the game the Autobots had the uperhand... 

But the  Deceptican Secundus started toteardown building in a atempt to get the Autobot Primes  damaged...

...but they quickley was up on their feet agaon starting to fight the Decepticans...

The two Autobot primes smached all recistance from the Decepticans... almost...

Optimus Prime took a bad hit before Green prime could defeat the enemy...

...finnishing the Deceptican with his last blow...



...Green Prime rais his hand in Victory...

...but an costly one...

We had a greate game even if my Decpticans lost. It´s nice to get some easy gaming with the sons toys using the Dragon Rampant rules :)
