Skärmytslare

Back in Stockholm after a really good weekend in Copenhage and the DFFCON 2014 a very nice little wargaming convention right in the middle of the Danish Army museum, more about that and my trip later during the week when I managed to fix the pictures...

Untill then you have some pictures of newly painted "Skärmytslare" or Skirmishers in english or handgunner if you like:)  All minis fron the Perry plastic box eccept for the Ax that are a Gripping Beast Viking ax;)

The will be deployed as a unit of Bidowers in Lion Rampant, I won´t use the special rules Dan created for Handgonnas as I think they act like Bow/Crossbow armed Skirmishers its just some more noice... 

As I painted them maily Red and White they will act as German mercenarys in Danish service during the Kalmar Union Wars...of course I need two proper Kalmar Forces for Lion Rampant to, don´t you think?

In Copenhagen

Today Saturday and tomorrow Sunday I, Sören and Jesper from the club are at the DFFCON 2014 in Copenhagen. We are running some 28mm "Battle of Lund 1676" games using the Black Powder rules.

Here are some pictures from our test games during the week. I hope to give you more pictures from our games and the DFFCON later on.

Livgardet 1676

As a part of the trip to Copenhagen and the DFFCON 2014 this weekend and our Battle at Lund 1676 game I have painte the Swedish Livgardet or at least the 1st Batallion as there was 3 of them.

All minis are plastic from Wargames Factory and the Flags are from Warfare miniatures.

Danish Bowmen

As you sure remember I painted 6 Bowmen for the Medieval Danish Hoast I painted for the Invasion of Gotland 1361,

 I have build 6 more of them from the Perry plastic Bow and Bill men box so now its enought for 3 units of Bidowers or 1 unit of Bidower and 1 unit of Bowmen as they are called in Lion Rampant.

Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy Issue 75

I realy hope that you all will buy a copy of Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy Issue 75 as then you can read my fist ever published article about the Danish Invasion of Gotland 1361 and also try out the minicampaign with 4 scenarios I constructed for Dan Merseys new medieval wargaming rules Lion Rampant  :)

Of cours have I also included some stats so you can use the scenarios for Hail Caesare to;)

WSS 75 will be released on November 1st, 2014, just two weeks of waiting...

Also nice to see that I made it to the front cover with one of my pictures, even if it is quite small :)

Medieval Danish Hoast for Lion Rampant, finished

At last have I finished the Danish Hoast for Lion Rampant, a little bit to late as the rules was released the 20th September. As it seems they had a very good welcome in the gaming comunity, an it seems like there are many Lion Rampant Hoast builds in progres around the globe:)

Here are a few group pictures of the Hoast, that are composed of

2x Mounted men-at-arms, one with the Leader, 2x6pts
2x Foot Serjants, 2x4pts
2x Bidowers, 2x2pts OR 1xBowmen, 1x4pts

In total 24 points ready for the Invasion of Gotland 1361...

Building me some Perry Plastic Knights

I got me a box of the new Perry Plastik Knights 1450-1500 and of course just had to start to build me some of them at once, ended up with 24... enought for a Super Elite Hoast for Lion Rampant 4 grous with 6 Men-at-Arms on Foot are 24 points and a basic force in the game...

I will ofcourse paint them in Danish/Swedish CoA...might have to build me a Allmoge force to...

When bulding the knights I also mixed in bits from the erlier plastic kits to get knights in less modern armour, as my belive are that that the Swedish Knights in the outback of Europe didn´t use the same modern stuff as in France or England.  

As well there wasn´t that many true Knights in Sweden anyway, one box would probably be enought for them all...

The King mini will be painted as the Danish King, if I manage to paint his CoA... As you see I also got the "Knight dressing for battle" special mini, will be perfect for the camp:)

I must admit that I wasn´t that keen on a box of full armoured knights,, but it was realy fun to build them and I think they will look splendid on the gaming table. More to follow...

Medieval Danish Hoast for Lion Rampant #6

Here are the 5 missing minis for the Danish Lion Rampant Hoast I been working on, they was painted in the Thott colours so they would match with the 7 already painted and make a full 12 mini Serjant unit for Lion Rampant.

Perry WIP "Swedish Onion Kettle Hat"

As you sure know by now Perry Miniatures have refered to may blog in their latest Plastic box with Foot Knights, and I and my friends at Northerns Wargaming had the honoure to give some advice for the new Plastic Light cavalry bix that Michel Perry are working on, regarding the Helmets and CoA/Banners Swedish/Danish for the Kalmar Union era.

Michael was kind enought to sculpt a special Swedish head in the typical "Onion shaped kettle hat with eye slits" seen on the Dolnstein drawings and I got a picture of it from him this morning, not to be seen elsewhere;)  Thanks Michael, very appreciated !

So now we just have to sit tight and waite for the box to arriwe and we can get us some Swedish Mounted "Svenner" and "Skyttar"...it´s a long wait... according to Michel Perry: "We can't really say as it's down to fitting into Renedra's schedule, but should be early next year. Same horses as before. Yes, 4 bodies, 12 new heads (3 kettle hats per sprue) arms to equip whole box as mounted crossbow or mounted archers or hobilers. Plus a few extras, separate sallet, trumpet arm and sword arm. "

Here are more pics of the 'light cavalry' for the 1450-1500 period. Not all of the bits are shown here but they give you an idea of what is coming, i.e., the choice of mounted crossbow, mounted archers and hobilars/coustiliers plus one or two extra bits. 

There will be 12 new heads, although a couple of them look very similar in style to the previous ones, including a couple of particularly Germanic, Italian, Swiss and Swedish looking ones. 

There is no release date yet but the greens are 99.9 per cent finished and will be heading Renedra's way very soon.

Perry Plastic Foot Knights 1450-1500...

As you sure know the Perry plastic Foot Knights 1450-1500 are out, I haven´t bought any of them as I really didn´t know how to get use of 38 fullplate Knight on foot up in Scandinavia during the 15th centery...

But in the end I got a few sprues of them from my friends at Northern Wargaming that also pointed out that the Perrys had included some Kalmar Union Flags and Livres on the information Sheet, glad that the Perrys help us to spread the Kalmar Union word. We now officialy are a part of History;)

After some further look on the information sheet in the box we noticed that the Perrys had refered to my blog for more info about the Scandinavian conflicts in the 15th century !!! 

I´m most honoured and it was quite a surprise to me, but a most wellcome one. The Perrys evidently visit my blog from time to time, big recognition to my work and made me very happy:)
