Heathen Skirmishers

I´m not just painteing woodland indians at the moment... I have managed to start painting some Baltic heathen for my Baltic Crusade project to:)

The Base for the Baltic Heathen are the Gripping Beast Jomsviking starter box I got for birthday last year and some other minis I have got my hands on...

The first aim are to paint Infantry force of about 40-50 minis and then add some Novgorodian Cavalry to act as instigators and leaders of the Baltic Resistance to the Swedish Crusaders.

The first unit to be finished are a group of 6 skirmishers, 4 bowmen from West Wind saxon range with heads fron the hooded picts and some green stuf to get a more medieval look on some of the hoods. Then we have 2 crossbowmen from the old Games Workshop Dogs Of War range, with a headswap on one of the minsi that also got a West Wind Hooded head.

Mohawk group 2

Regardless of the small Ranger Interlude I have managed to finish the second group of Mohawks for my Muskets & Tomahawk warparty.

I must admit that it takes a little bit longer to paint the woodland indians then I paint other minis, suppouse it is the individual warpaint and that I  try to pick out, at lest, some of the details on these great minis.

Here are some pictuser of the 6 minis in the second group.

All minis from Galloping Major.

Dux Suecia AAR game #3

Here are at last the AAR from my and Jonas game back in December 2012...

This was the 3rd game of our Dux Suecia campaign (i.e. Migrat of TFL Dux Britanniarum to Kalmar Union War i.e. Civil War in 15th century Sweden).

In the second game The Union/Archbishop forces haden´t had time to replace all losses so the Rebells under command of the Knight Nils Bosson Sture of the House Natt och Dag had the uperhand. So in July 1466 the rebells decide to attack a Union supply column destined to the Archbishop and his troops that defended the Swedish capital Stockholm. This all translated in to the "Raiding a Waggon Train" scenario from the rulebook. After a close fight the Union supply colum managed to win the day and get through to Stockholm. You can read all about it here.

After the loss the Rebell forces dessintegrated as the Allmoge had to go for home and the harvest, the rebell Leader hided up in the region Dalarna to gather strenth and rally new forced for their cause... The Union forces had replaced their losses in September 1466, they then aimed for a offensive forward the region Dalarna, to try to capture the rebell Leaders before they had a chanse to rally a new rebell army... All this translated in to the Dux Britanniarum Rulebook scenario "Raiding a Border Tower"

OOB

Swedish rebells forces (Commanded by Jonas)
Influence: 4 (Need to get 5 before he by the Allmoge will be elected Hövitsman/High Leader of the rebellion)

Commander Nils Bosson Sture of the House of Natt och Dag (Owner of Penningby)
3 units of 6 Allmoge each from Västmanland and Roslagen

Leader Sten Gustavsson of the House of Sture
2 units of 6 Hardened Allmoge each from Dalarna and Hälsingland

Leader Ivar Axelsson from the House of Tott (That more or less just have turned side from pro union to rebell)
1 unit of 4 Frälse

1 unit of 4 Handgunners/Skirmishers

Union forces (Commanded by me)
Influence: 4 (Raised by 1 due to my "victory" in the last game)

Commander Erik Nilsson of the House of Oxenstierna (Cousin to the Archbishop)
2 units of 4 Frälse

Leader Erik Karlsson from the House of Vasa (Brother in law to Erik Nilsson)
2 units of 6 Fotknektar

Leader Trotte Karlsson of the House of Eka
1 unit of 4 Skyttar

1 unit of 4 Handgunners/Skirmishers

Yet one more greate game, very close and intense, we decided that the Union had a minor victory regardles of they geting a hostage or not as the Rebell army was stopde from reciving the reinforcements brought by Sten Sture.

The Union influence was raised to 5 and I choose to use it to get Commander and Cousin to the Archbishop, Erik Nilsson of the House of Oxenstierna apointed "Marsk", in english: Lord High Constable of Sweden.

The Rebells had to withdraw back to Dalarna for two month to gather new forces. The Union forces retreated to the town of Västerås there they  started to besiege the Castle that had shifted allegiance and was now in the hands of the rebells.

In early December just befor the first snow the Rebells left tha saftey of dalarna and started to march to Västerås to lift the Siege...

More about that in our next game...

Thanks for reading !!!

Dux Suecia AAR Teaser...

Just before Christmas I and Jonas played our 3rd game of our Dux Suecia campaign (i.e. Migrat of TFL Dux Britanniarum to Kalmar Union War i.e. Civil War in 15th century Sweden). Unfortunally I haven´t had the time to write the AAR untill now...at leas I started now... I hope to have it up at the blog during the weekend:)

In our latest game The Union/Archbishop forces haven´t had time to replace all losses so the Rebells under command of the Knight Nils Bosson Sture of the House Natt och Dag had the uperhand. So in July 1466 the rebells decide to attack a Union supply column destined to the Archbishop and his troops that defended the Swedish capital Stockholm.
