A short presentation of tonights game at our club. One more Kalmar Union War game, this time the Battle at Älgsundet 1457.
King Karl VIII Knutsson (Bonde) had been in war with Denmark sins 1449 and the Allmoge didn´t like all the extra war-taxes. So In 1457 a rebellion took place, led by Archbishop Jöns Bengtsson (Oxenstierna) and one of King Karl´s followers that turned side the nobleman, Erik Axelsson (Tott). King Karl that at the time was in southern of Sweden moved hurriedly to the north with some troops to subdue the rebellion.
On the evening of 8th of february 1457 King Karl and he´s Knechts made camp at the lake Mälaren outside Eskilstuna in Södermanlandland at a place called Älgarsundet (Elkinlet). Early in the morning on the 9th of February a force of rebels managed to sneak up on the Kings camp and attack them.
