German Mercenarys

I have painted 4 bases of German mercenarys in Danish/Union service.

These will be mixed with already existing units so I can remove the crossbowmen I at first had in the units.

I want to have all Mercenary units made up af the same type of troop, so only the Allmoge units are mixed.

The minis are a mix, mostly old Games Workshop (Dogs of War range), Perry and some Crusader.

Workbench...

Some pictures of what I did last night.

Started to go through the Claymore Casting minis and glued some of them on sticks to be painted.

I will make 2 unit command bases of these for two Swedish Allmoge units, it was quite common for the Swedish Knights to dismount and lead the Allmoge by example from the front... Charge...

One of my favourite Claymore Castings minis is the one charging with a large Claymore...BUT coulden´t have a claymore armed Allmoge soldier so I cut it of, drilled a hole and gave him a Large Swedish Axe instead:)

Minis from Perry ans 4x Claymore Castings.

In the back of the picture you can see the brass tube I use on all my banner bearers so I can exchange my linnen banners.

By the way, the Claymore Casting site are now up and running, its possible to order minis and banners.

Command close-ups

I have got a request of some close-up pictures of my mercenary crossbow Captain.

I didn´t know if i dare to show him close-up, not sure my painting style would survive close-ups... but here he is... be gentle please;)

Minis are from Games Workshop, dog-of-war range.

Although they are slightly bigger and bulkier than the Perrys they work fine mixed up in my units.

As close as it gets...

Pre-order have arrive:)

Yesterday I got my pre-order of the Claymore Casting minis, one of each of the 20 in the first release.

The minis look realy good, very cleare casts and very little mould line.

They match up good with my Perry minis and they will be mixed arround in my units of Swedish Allmoge for my Kalmar Union War project.

Mercenary Crossbows

I have been painting some Mercenary Crossbowmen in service of the Danish King and Union army. These are a mix of all sort of minis, Perry, Crusader and Games Workshop amongst other...

The Unit are under command of the Swedish Noblemen with a Danish alignament, Erik Kortson of the House of Nipertz.

The House of Nipertz was realy from Mecklenburg but they moved to Sweden during the last decade of the 14th century as opponent to Albreckt of Mecklenburg and keen supporters of Queean Margarets establishment of the Kalmar Union.

Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy

I got my hands on a new, at least for me, wargaming magazine: Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy.

I have had the chanse to look at two of their latest issues in .pdf format.

#Issue 56 - ACW gaming
#Issue 57 - Pulp gaming

I was very pleased with the magazines, nice and clear layout and very interesting articles. Each issue have theme and about 25 of the 84 pages are dedicated to the theme with background, scenarios, miniature reviews and most interesting of all a how it was made about the first page diorama, like the stunning ACW diorama by David Imrie/Saxon Dog

The rest of the magazine are a god mix of Hobby new, Miniature and Game reviews, Scenarios and articles about wargaming in different eras. It is hard to get something for every one in on only 84 pages but I realy like the mix they managed to achieve.

I must admit that I liked Issue 56 more. Thats because ACW gaming and articles are more interesting to me then Pulp gaming, and that there was a article about Naval Warfare during the 15th centery:) and a interesting painting guide to Perrys plastic WotR minis...

If Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy continue to be as god as these 2 issues I will defenetly start a subscription for the paper magazine...already have;)

I´m not a greate fan of .pdf magazines...want the real stuff...

# Issue 59 with a Viking/SAGA theme have just been released...hope I will get it soon...

Take the chanse to get you self a subscription there are still a 20% discount on the prise:)
