Danish hired Landsknechts vs. Swedish Allmoge
Inspired by the Paul Dolnstein drawing of Landsknechts in Danish service fighting Swedish Allmoge in 1502 I will try to build me some German Mercenarys using a mix of Perry WotR Plastics and old GW Empire plastic bits...I hope it all will work out...
Hard times for the Swedish Allmoge, at least he didn´t lose his head...
The first WIP pictures of the minis will come in a day or two...just have to glue some of the minis together first...
Danes are fierce when in tights, didn't I tell you?! Interesting project, looking forward to your perry/GW conversion, and raising my hand if you ever need an able commander of these fine gentlemen on a gaming table...
ReplyDeleteI notised it when you have your tights on at the gaming club;)
DeleteYou are most welcome to command the danes one again, I hope you will be a more able commander then the last times...

Really interesting project! Very curious to see your WIP.
ReplyDeleteThey will come...soon...
DeleteI am tempted to do some early landsknechts, very hard to find suitable figures though, I am keen to see how yours turn out.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is, i´m not sure my builds will look in the right way either, but as they will fight in the backwater parts of europe, I hope they will work;)
DeleteMust say that you have the most impressive collection of Landsknechts !
DeleteVery nice inspirational !
Best regards Michael
Oh, you mean like the famous black guard from Frisia? Looking forward to your conversions!
ReplyDeleteI´m not sure the Frisian Black Guard are realy the thing as they was more or less a huge army of 15000? men. In Sweden you would be very impressed in you ever reached 15000 men counting both sides;)
DeleteAs far as I have found information the danes hired individual, groups and the accational company and of course artillery/seige experts of German mercenarys. The infantry was probably mixed up with the danish infantry provided by the Danish Noibles. as the mercenary knights was mixed up with the Danish Knights. So my units will have a mix of old and new equipment/cloths in a ragtag look. I hope it will look good in the end...
Best regards Michael
This is going to be exciting!
ReplyDeleteHope so:)
DeleteI will be really interested to see how the conversions turn out.I know the illustration well and find the artist and his drwings fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI wish some manufacturer would do an allmoge figure- or perhaps I should have a go at converting one...
Great project by the way and wish you well with it.
cheers
Alan
Thanks Alan !
DeleteYou of course build your own allmoge minis:)
Best regards Michael
Wow!!! Sounds very cool Michael! Good luck with the conversions!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you back on the Kalmar union horse again.
ReplyDeleteI will of course follow this with great interest! Looking forward to seeing the finished miniatures.
