Rebels for ACW

I painted some more Rebs for my Rebels and Patriots ACW force, this time some basic infantry, the should represent troops from Louisiana. As it seems several of the early war Louisiana Infantry used blue uniforms, thath they later was ordered to turn in side out due to friendly fire incidents, I painted them in a mix of blue, gray and beige tones.

For Rebels and Patriots they will be fielded as Line Infantry with 12 minis in each unit and one of them also have the Officer included.

Most minis from the Perry plastic box "ACW 120 American Civil War Union Infantry in sack coats Skirmishing 1861-65"

  1. Yes, lovely. I've remounted about half a dozen units per side to your 3-2-1 mounting system and we have played a modified, ACW version of The Pikeman's Lament. Looking forward to Rebels and Patriots.

  2. Yes, at the start of the war, Federal troops wore blue, and State troops wore gray. So at Bull Run you had gray coated Union troops and Blue coated Confederates! A few friendly fire incidents and they got it sorted out.

  3. Very good! I've just ordered a box of Perry zouaves to use for the Maximillian Adventure in Mexico. I aim to use mainly Sharp Practice but Rebels and Patriots might be an alternative for quicker, evening games.

  4. Looking good Michael...
Although you may have thwarted my plans ‘ not’ to start yet another period this year...

    All the best. Aly
