Cold war gone hot - AAR 2

Painted me a small Swedish log house (4ground - Log timber house) for my 15mm Cold War Swedes so I thougt I and David had to have another game of "Seven Days to the River Rhein" so my newly painted house and also the my new modern roads got a outing. Very pleased with the roads i must say, will get me some of the road expanssions to.

I have put up a small fictional story behind our games, Soviet troops landed at the Swedish harbor of Kapellskär (far right by the sea on the top map), and are advancing inland to relife the Soviet Airborne troops landed in central Stockholm and at the International Airport Arlanda North of central Stockholm. The games we  play out revolvs around the Swedish forces that tries to halt the Soviet advance from Kapellskär to Arlanda Airport (top 2 forces on the lower map by R in Rimbo).

With a back story set we decided to double our forces from last time, 200 points to 400 points, to try the rules out a bit more.

Swedish OOB - Armoured Company
Armoured Platoon
3xStrv 103A/B

Armoured Platoon
3xStrv 103A/B

Armourd Infantry Platoon
3xPBV 302
3xInfantry

Homeguards Squad
1xInfantry

Soviet OOB - Armoured Company
Armoured Platoon
4xT-64A

Armoured Platoon
5xT-55A

Armourd Infantry Platoon
4xBTR 60
3xInfantry
1x Support, ASG-17

The Soviet Company advanced along road 77, west of Rimbo, a squad of Swedish Homeguard are watching a fule depot in the center of the table (If captured by the Soviets the Swedes lose 10 BP). The Swedes ofcourse want to inflict as much damage as possible to halt the Soviet advance and secure the fule depot.

Hers are a short recap of the battle, the Swedes got the initiative and advanced in the center with a platoon of tanks that used the center hill and their Low Silhuette to gain an advantagous possition to cover the fule depot. The second Armoured Platoon advanced from the south to the small red cottage and the Armoured infantry made a extensice flanking manouvre at the north.

The Soviets made a head on advance across the center field with their T-64 Platoon reaching the end of the field and got under heavy fire from the Swedish tank at the hill ridge. The Soviet Armoured Infantry advanced in support of the T-64´s aling the northern dirt road but was a bit to offensive and the lead BTR got blown up. The Soviet T-55 platoon splited in 2 Sections, one advance along the road ending up in a firefight with the leas swedish tank that they managed to knockout... the second section of T-55 made a extensice flanking manouvre at the south.

The fighting continued and to a start it looked like the Soviets would be victorious as they managed to capture the fuel depot, but due to good use of the S-tanks the swedes managed to knockout more than 50% of the russian tank´s and BTR´s and thereby halted the Soviet advance for a couple of houres...

Below you find bunch of pictures from the game.
