Here comes a first short AAR from our Scanian War "Snapphane style" project, I have included my Scenario brief and the OOB handouts, if you by any chanse would like to tryout some Snapphane gaming:)
Dalregementet on the march to Halmstad...
The day before the entire Swedish army passed in theire force march for Halmstad, leaving the area looted...
As the Swedish supply column approaches the Snapphanar spring their ambuch...
Long away in the back they deployed their rifle armed men...but it dosen´t realy matter if you have a rifle that can shoot long if it is a hill in between;)
The Swedes swiftly responded by a volly and sending the pikes forward for a assault...
After a fierce fight the last man standing for the Snapphanar retreated in to the field and continued to take potshots at the Swedes...
The Rifle armed Snapphanar did at last understand that they had to redeploy to get in to the fight, starting to move forward the Windmill...
As the supply wagon and the remaining pikemen approached the ford, the last group of Snapphanar emerged behind the stonewall and opened fire...
The Dalregemente musketeers made a quick advance and opened fire in support of the wagon that steadily moved on for saftey...
Unfortunaly...just a few moves form move the Supply wagon to saftey the Snapphanar managed to get their 7th kill (more than 1/3) and they won the day...
More to follow...
Great terrain as always, and a great start to this new project.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sir !
DeleteA beautiful report once again, the supply wagon and the windmill illuminates a great looking battlefield....
ReplyDeleteBest,
Phil.
Appreciated Phil !
DeleteWe send our thanks to Sören for the windmill, feels a bit more Skåne:)
I just adore the look of your games Michael.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael !!!
DeleteOnce again a very entertaining AAR. Your terrain is eyecandy as always as are your figures.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like my work !
DeleteLovely looking table and figures and always great to see a completely different 'preiod' being gamed. What rules do you use BTW?
ReplyDeleteThank you Steve
DeleteThis time we used the Musket & Tomahawks rules, with our own army lists for the period.
Great AAR Micke, and a very enjoyable first game of "Snabbhanar". The Danish militia are now on to the Swedes, and have now called for reinforcements from the regular royal army. They will shortly be arriving in the form of a crack unit of grenadiers;0)
ReplyDeleteIndeed it was a very nice test game Sören !
DeleteLooking forward to see your reinforcements arrive...
Great stuff! It all looks beautiful together.
ReplyDeleteThank you ! We look forward to see you join our games to !
DeleteThat is a great looking set up!

Am I right, in this AAR Swedish regular infantry hits on 5+ and saved on 4+. What does aggressiveness mean? Does this chance of hit in Melee?
ReplyDeleteHi Fjodin
DeleteSwedish regular Musketeers hits on 5+ for shooting and 5+ for close combat (aggressiveness value are close combat) the Save are only used in close combat. to see damages for Shooting you use the lethality of the weapon used, 3+ for muskets.
Best regards Michael
Thanx! So now i got it ;) I love your stats. Regular infantry hits on 5+ but the musket hit is deadly and kill you on 3+. Pikemen can not shoot but will hit musketeer on 3+ in melee.
DeleteReally going foward to get these rules for scirmish games. One last question: what does Firing Line means for regulars?
DeleteThe Muskets & Tomahwk rules are very nice indeed.
DeleteIf a unit form a Firing Line it will geting bonus on shooting, close combat and morale, so you want your unit to form a Firing Line ASAP;)
Best regards Michael
